Funeral service for Ruth Dietrich will be held Saturday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. John Koopman will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Visitation will be held Friday, May 5 4-7 p.m. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Prayer service will be Friday, May 5 at 6:45 p.m. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
Ruth Ann Dietrich, age 89, passed away on April 27 at her home.
Ruth Ann Bruhn was born on June 14, 1933, on the family farm east of Depew, IA to Erwin and Doris (Meyer) Bruhn. Ruth was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Fairville, IA. After nine years of country school, grades K-8, Ruth graduated from Cylinder High School.
Ruth was united in marriage to Paul W. Dietrich on June 5, 1952. To this union, God blessed them with three children, eight grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Paul and Ruth farmed together for over 60 years. Ruth enjoyed quilting, baking, ball games, lots of mowing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Dietrich; three children, Paul (Barb) Dietrich Jr. of Emmetsburg, Diane (Rick) Blair of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and Alan (Louanne) Dietrich of Branson, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Rev. Chadric (Alyson) Dietrich, Matthew (Andrea) Dietrich, Aaron (Laura) Dietrich, Stephanie (Chris) Rodriguez, John (Kristi) Blair, Nathan (Nicole) Blair, Levi Dietrich, and Jordan (Travis) Peterson; 15 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Liz Chapman of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Doris; sister, Alice Klein Hinken; brother, William (Bill) Bruhn; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gustav and Florentina Dietrich; brothers-in-law, Karl Klein, Dick Hinken, Fred Lenz, Carl Lenz, Ernie Lenz, Wally Lenz, and Eddie Lenz; and sister-in-law, Janice Bruhn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice of Palo Alto County and Special Olympics.
