She received her education in Ayrshire, graduating from Ayrshire High School, as Valedictorian, in 1946. Following high school, Bev accepted a position as a bookkeeper in Spencer. She later went to work at Carrol’s Bakery where she had the opportunity to meet her future husband, Van William Hatfield.
On July 30, 1950 Beverly was united in marriage to Van in Ayrshire. They were blessed with seven children.
Throughout Bev’s working years she was employed as the secretary at the Ayrshire school and was a well known and beloved cashier at the Red Owl Grocery Store, and Joyce’s Foodland. In the later years she would do food samples at the grocery stores.
Bev enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, as well as canning and freezing produce each year. She was famous for her delicious frozen sweet corn. Bev also liked to sew and do puzzles. Once she became a grandmother, she loved every minute she could spend with them and did a great job of spoiling each one of them.
