Funeral services for Therese Mahoney will be held on February 11, 2025, at Cure' of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas.
Therese Mae Brennan Mahoney passed away at Village Shalom, Overland Park, Kansas on January 28, 2025. Therese was born on June 25, 1939, to John Michael and Wahneta (Kelly) Brennan in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Therese attended St. Ellen’s Grade School, Emmetsburg Catholic High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. Following graduation from nursing school, Therese was recruited by Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri to join their professional nursing staff as an RN. Therese continued her education and graduated from Park University in Kansas City, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management.
Therese demonstrated her professional and compassionate spirit during her 31 years at Menorah, culminating her career as Director of Nursing and Vice President of Nursing Services.
Therese met the love of her life, Jack Mahoney, at Cure’ of Ars church. They were married in 1989 at the church where their love story began. Therese was blessed with seven beautiful stepdaughters whom she loved, greatly admired, and was always thankful for the love they shared. Jack and Therese were happily married for 27 years before Jack’s passing in 2016.
Therese valued her faith, family, and friends.
Therese is survived by siblings Myrna (Dutch) Heddinger, John (Carol) Brennan, Ruth Sullivan, Alice Jensen, Wahneta (Bill) Haywood, and Mary (John) Mathis; stepdaughters, Mary (Rob) Dando, Kathy (Tom) Allen, Maureen (Mark) Engen, Shauna (Peter) Clark, Eileen (Dwight) Chaska, Janet Rolling, Helen (Gregory) Solem; along with twenty-three grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Therese was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents John and Wahneta Brennan, brothers-in-law Joe Sullivan, Jim Mahoney, Tom Mahoney, and sister-in-law Helen O’Conner.
