Funeral service for Robert W. Schneider will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Kent Schmidt will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Rush Lake Cemetery, Mallard.
Visitation is prior to the service on Saturday, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
Robert Wayne Schneider, son of Alvin and Phyllis (Bottger) Schneider, was born Dec. 13, 1949 in Iowa City. He received his education in Emmetsburg and graduated from Emmetsburg High School. While in high school Bob worked at the Redwood Café.
Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was inducted on Sept. 23, 1969 and served as a medic during his time of service. Bob was honorably discharged on April 27, 1971 and then returned to Iowa.
Bob was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various locations in the area. He then went to work at Positech in Laurens where he was employed for 20 years. Due to health issues, Bob had recently made his home in West Bend.
Bob was united in marriage to Vickie Wermersen on Oct. 22, 1982 at the United Methodist Church in Mallard. To this union one daughter, Orian was born. Bob was also blessed with a daughter, Brenda and a son, Anthony.
Bob enjoyed gardening and doing woodworking projects. He raised pigeons, pheasants and geese as well as other exotic birds.
Bob passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the West Bend Care Center in West Bend, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Phyllis Schneider; a sister, Gloria Schneider; and brothers, Brian Schneider, William Schneider, David Schneider and Eldon “Skobe” Schneider.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie of West Bend; his daughters, Brenda McGuire of Spencer, and Orian Schneider of Mallard; his son, Anthony Schneider of Oregon; grandchildren, Wyatt, Dora, Keaton, Atticus, Augustus, Lilyana, Lyric and Axe; a sister, Linda (Pat) Flynn of Mallard; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
