Mary C. Olt (Reinders), 94, a resident of Dayton, Ohio for the past 70 years, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Mary was born January 22, 1932, daughter of William and Marcia (Hahn) Reinders, in Mallard, Iowa. After graduating from Mallard Community High School, Mary graduated from Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb.

A job offer from Dayton Public Schools brought Mary to Ohio where she taught Kindergarten for forty years. Mary absolutely loved teaching. She touched the lives of hundreds of children, instilling in them a love for reading and learning. Mary married Don Olt and for thirty-five years they enjoyed a companionable life which included volunteering at Aullwood Audubon Center and traveling to Maine and Germany.

Like her husband, Mary chose to donate her body to Wright State University School of Medicine where there will be a memorial service held at a later date.

Don Olt died April 28, 2017. Her brothers, Milo and Ray Reinders, and a niece, Ann Biere of Omaha, also predeceased Mary. Left with many wonderful memories are niece Sandy Beckendorf of Fairmont, MN; nephews Dan (Jeannie) Reinders of Havelock, Iowa; Dave (Kristi) Reinders of Mallard, Iowa; Mark (Judy) Reinders in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and John (Andrea) Reinders in Omaha, Neb.
