Marcella Baker

Marcella K. Baker, the youngest of 10 children, daughter of John and Mary (Miller) Lang, passed away at the age of 96 on June 15, 2023.
In 1946 Marcella married Elton Baker, the love of her life for 62 years.
Marcella valued hard work and individual betterment. She set an example by aiding Elton with farm work, taking classes to earn accreditation as a nurses’ aid and an activity director for the elderly. In her work at the Pocahontas Manor, Marcella treated the residents of the nursing home as she wished to be treated - with kindness and patience. She encouraged her children to follow her example by working hard and pursuing education beyond high school.
Marcella was predeceased by her husband Elton, her parents, all of her siblings, her son-in-law John Moragues and her granddaughter Jeanine Oberholzer. Marcella is survived by her children Dena Moragues, Vonita Brown (Sam), Galen Baker (Norma), Renae Lenhardt (Peter), grandchildren (13), great-grandchildren (26) and great-great grandchildren (8).
Marcella is remembered with much love, laughter and smiles.
Visitation was 9:30 to 10:30 AM on June 19, 2023, at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. The funeral followed at 10:30 AM. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas. Powers Funeral Home of Pocahontas, Iowa handled the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Liver Foundation in memory of Marcella Baker.
