Funeral services for Leila Eagan will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2025 at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until services begin.
Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa.
Leila Teresa Eagan, the daughter of Elmer and Eva (Monk) Rosacker, was born September 26, 1928 in Freeman Township, Clay County, by Elk Lake near Ruthven, Iowa.
Leila attended country schools at Ruthven and Ayrshire, Iowa areas. Leila graduated from Silver Lake Consolidated High School in Ayrshire, Iowa in 1946. She continued her education at Saint Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Leila received her graduate degree as a Registered Nurse in September 1949. She was employed at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, as well as a hospital in Denver, Colorado; Rolla, Missouri; and nursing homes in Emmetsburg, Iowa and Houston, Texas.
On December 27, 1951 Leila was united in marriage to James K. Eagan at Sacred Heart Church in Ayrshire, Iowa. She is survived by her four children: Thomas Eagan and wife, Colleen, of Manchester, IA; Dianne Bergum and husband, Lee, of Oronco, MN; Michael Eagan and wife, Sybil, of Bellville, TX; and Edward Eagan and wife, Natalie, of Kingwood, TX.
Leila is survived by her nine grandchildren Darci Tracey and husband, Mike; Daniel Bergum and wife, Karin; Teresa Williamson and husband, Scott; Devon Ballinger and husband, Ross; Lauren Artiga and husband, Kevin; Brandon Eagan; Marcus Eagan and wife, Amanda; Brian Eagan and wife, Jana; Justin Eagan and wife, Samantha.
Leila is survived by her twenty great grandchildren.
Leila was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents Elmer and Eva, four brothers Eugene, Donald, James, and John Rosacker; great grandson Jackson, as well as many other relatives and friends.
