A Mass of Christian Burial for Karol M. Hoben was held Thursday, Oct. 6, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Celebrant was the Rev. Bill Schreiber.
Interment was at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Karol Marie Hoben, daughter of Louie J. and Ida M. (Dundei) Hausmann, was born Nov. 4, 1930 in Milford. She received her education in Milford, graduating from Okoboji High School.
On May 18, 1955 Karol was united in marriage to Patrick Hoben at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with four sons. Karol and Pat farmed near Emmetsburg for many years. Karol also worked at Hamilton’s and later at S.N.C. in Emmetsburg.
Karol was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Karol was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loving to cook for her family. She will be remembered for her delicious Angel Food cakes. Karol enjoyed doing crafts, making Christmas ornaments for family and friends and was especially fond of making memory pins for her friends. She was artistic and liked designing quilts as well as painting portraits and landscapes.
Karol passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2022 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Ida Hausmann; her husband, Patrick; a son, Kevin; three sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley Hoben of Sanford, FL, Thomas Hoben of Sioux Falls, SD and William Hoben of Ardmore, OK; seven grandchildren, Jeffery, Jennifer, Jill, Anastasia, Newman, Riley and Nathan; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Hausmann; as well as other relatives and friends.
