Funeral services for Genevieve Burger, 97, will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Ayrshire, Iowa.

Genevieve Mildred Burger, daughter of Samuel and Anna (Olson) Dyer, was born March 19, 1926 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in Ayrshire and Emmetsburg.  Genevieve was baptized in the Methodist Church in Gillett Grove.

On March 12, 1942 Genevieve was united in marriage to Roy Burger.  They were blessed with seven children, Judy, Gloria, Victoria, Harley, Carl, Brian and Gary.  Genevieve was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She also did child care for other families in her home.

Genevieve was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church in Gillett Grove where she helped in any capacity in which she was needed.  She was also a member and officer of the Spencer Eagles Auxiliary.  She served on the Gillett Grove City Council and was an election clerk for Clay County.  Genevieve enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society in Webb as well as the many different card clubs she participated in.  Genevieve loved watching NASCAR and was a huge fan.

Genevieve passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 97.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents; her husband, Roy; her brother, Richard Dyer; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Chuck Berger; two children, Victoria Weisbrod and Brian  Burger; sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, Lanny Bevers, Hardie “Butch” Ball, Dennis Weisbrod, and Dorothy Burger.

She is survived by her children, Judy Bevers of Sutherland, Iowa, Gloria Ball of Spencer, Iowa, Harley Burger of Spencer, Iowa, Carl (Jody) Burger of Laurens, Iowa, Gary Burger of Gillett Grove, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
