SPENCER -- Funeral service for Dale Paulsen was held Thursday, Nov. 10, at Walnut Cemetery in Graettinger. Pastor John Wolf officiated.
Military services were conducted by members of Nelson-Christiansen American Legion #162, Graettinger, Iowa
Interment was in Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger. The Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, was in charge of arrangements.
Dale Alan Paulsen, the son of Clarion and Anna (Jensen) Paulsen, was born June 17, 1941 in Ruthven. His childhood years were spent in Graettinger, where he received his education, graduating from Graettinger High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Dale entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict until his honorable discharge.
Dale married Elaine Petersen in June of 1970 in Archer, IA. After their marriage, they lived in Graettinger, where they farmed for many years until their retirement. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. He loved his John Deere tractors and collecting farm toys. He also enjoyed watching his Dodgers play baseball.
He passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 at the age of 81. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine in 2002; and his sister, Sharon Kinnetz.
Dale is survived by his son, Chris of Spencer; one grandson, Jeffrey of Spencer; a granddaughter, Danielle Ash of Emmetsburg; other relatives and many friends.
