Funeral service for Cindy K. Pedersen of Emmetsburg was held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Grace Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Curtis DeFord and Adam Pedersen officiated.
Inurnment was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Cindy K. Pedersen, daughter of Cordell Royce and Donna Rae (Johnson) Poldberg, was born June 17, 1957 in Fort Chaffee, AK. She began her education at Carlisle Elementary School and then attended Palmer Consolidated School, graduating in 1975. Following graduation, Cindy attended Iowa Central Community College, receiving her degree in 1976.
On Nov. 12, 1977 Cindy was united in marriage to Larry Gene Pedersen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer. They were blessed with a son, Adam Cordell, and daughter, Jayci Lynne.
Cindy worked for two years as a nurse’s aide at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. After earning her LPN degree, she was employed at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines for a year and a half. She then went on to work for 23 years at the Medical Clinic in Manson. She was also employed at the Humboldt Medical Clinic for seven years, Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg for four years and Avera Hospital in Estherville for three years.
Cindy’s love of caring for others throughout her life was also visible in her personal life. Her faith was very important to Cindy and she enjoyed every opportunity she had to share the word of God with others. She led several Bible Studies with her “study buddies” as she called them and through these Bible studies, Cindy developed many dear friends. Cindy loved living on the lake and was always ready for a boat ride, day or night. Her family was her life and she especially loved “Grammy vacations”. She was a beautiful seamstress, sewing garments and making quilts. She liked doing crafts and having a garden.
Cindy was a member of Sorority in Rolfe, and a member of P.E.O., Chapter B.K. in Emmetsburg.
Cindy passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022 at her home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Carol Pedersen.
She is survived by her husband, Larry of Emmetsburg; her children and grandchildren, Adam and Amy Pedersen of Gardner, KS and their children Katelyn and Chloe, Jayci, and Ross Petersen of Humboldt, and their children Drake and Kosett, Tessa and Sadie; one great grandchild expected in February; her parents, Cordell and Donna Poldberg of Emmetsburg; two brothers, Scott Poldberg (Helen) of Platte, City, MO and Joel Poldberg (June) of Taylorsville, KY; many nieces and nephews; as well as several great friends.
