Funeral service for Bruce V. Iwen is Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Peter Morlock will officiate.

Visitation is prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.

Private family burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.

Bruce Vernon Iwen, son of Vernon and Edna Alberta (Butler) Iwen, was born June 15, 1942. He received his education in the Spencer school system.

On Aug. 28, 1986, Bruce was united in marriage to Cindy Wolter in Spencer. They were blessed with a son, Brett.

Bruce drove truck for over 40 years starting with Holiday Express and Arts Way, traveling all over the United States. He later drove truck locally hauling livestock and feed, ending his career with Murphy Brown.

Bruce loved hunting and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed coin collecting, gun collecting and his model cars. Bruce loved having a good time with his family and friends.

Bruce passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his father and step mother, Vernon and Sylvia Iwen; his mother and step father, Edna and Arthur Kirby; and a nephew, Colton Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Cylinder; his son, Brett (Shell) Iwen of Emmetsburg; grandchildren, Justin (Lauren) Iwen of Peoria, AZ, Derek (Ashley) of Cherokee, Erica (Colton) Wolf of Culver, KS, and Shelby (Michael) Mitchell of Ames; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Evelyn, Reece, Baylor, Everett, Ella, and Otto; brothers, Craig (Sandi) Iwen of Emmetsburg, and Mike Kirby of Portland, OR; sisters, Connie (Larry) Williams of Portland, OR, Cindy (Tim Hansen) Baker of Emmetsburg, Kim (Jeff) King of Buckeye, AZ, Valerie (Mark) Johnson of Emmetsburg, Wendy (Bill) Hawks of Emmetsburg, and Shawna (Brad) Anderson of Graettinger; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
