Mass of Christian Burial for Ronnie Saxton was held May 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Bill Schreiber officiated. Interment was at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg.
Ronnie Lee Saxton, son of Harold and Ellen (Gronbeck) Saxton, was born June 17, 1950 in Emmetsburg. He received his education at Emmetsburg Community School.  Ronnie enlisted in the United Sates Navy and served a short time before he was medically discharged.
On July 25, 1969 Ronnie was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Bates at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger.  They made their home in Emmetsburg.
Ronnie was employed at Wigdahl Hardware before taking a job with the Department of Transportation.  He worked in the area until his disability no longer allowed him to work certain jobs. He and Elaine moved to North Liberty where Ronnie continued working at the D.O.T. caring for the rest areas for the State of Iowa.  In 1980 they returned home to Emmetsburg.
Ronnie loved sitting by the lake fishing, watching NASCAR and golf on T.V., or playing a game of Poker.  If the garage door was open, you were welcome to stop by and he enjoyed spending time with all of his friends and family that came to visit. The cooler was always full, conversations were plentiful and everyone was welcome. Ronnie was a perfectionist. His yard was always cared for and everything was in it’s place. Ronnie rarely missed a day having coffee with his mom and dad. Anyone that knew Ronnie will certainly cherish the memory of his wave as you drove by.
Ronnie passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 72.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ellen Saxton and his father-in-law; mother-in-law, Paul and Evelyn Bates; brother-in-law, Dennis O’Clair; and niece Kerry O’Clair-Jefferson.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Emmetsburg; his brother, Larry (Debbie) Saxton of Emmetsburg; sisters, Linda (Joe) Kent of Agency, Iowa, Roezanne Saxton of Ankeny, and Carol (Duane) Looft of Ledyard; sister-in-law, Marlene O’Clair of Toledo, Iowa; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; as well as  other relatives and many friends.
