RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Robert L. Grange was held Monday, May 17, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven.

Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. Military rites were conducted by members of American Legion Post #33, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.

Robert LaVerne Grange, son of Walter and Elizabeth (Nelson) Grange, was born June 8, 1922 on the farm south of Ruthven. He attended country school near Ruthven through 8th grade and then completed his education at Ruthven Community School, graduating in 1939. Bob then served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Bob returned to Palo Alto County where he farmed near Ruthven. He was united in marriage to Lois Mae Pilquist on May 22, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They were blessed with four children.

Bob managed Miller Super-Service in Ruthven and was also the Ruthven Postmaster for 31 years. He was an active and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven.

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #33 in Ruthven for 74 years. He was an avid duck and pheasant hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

Bob passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Ruthven Community Care Center, at the age of 98. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Grange; brothers, Bill Grange and Pete Grange; sisters-in-law, Mary Grange and Ilene Myrvold; and brother-in-law, Wyman Myrvold.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Ruthven; his children, Gary (Dee) Grange of Ruthven, Joan (Steve) Lauritsen of Estherville, Craig (Linda) Grange of Delmar, and Kent (Teri) Grange of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie (Ron) Pringnitz of Kanawha; sister-in-law, Ginger Grange of Spencer, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
