A Mass of Christian Burial for Nettie M. Manwarren of Emmetsburg was held Saturday, April 30, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Celebrant was the Rev. Bill Schreiber.
Interment was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Nettie Marie Manwarren, daughter of Carl and Alice (Nuzum) Gray, was born Nov. 8, 1933 in Onawa. She received her education in the West Monona School system.
On Dec. 19, 1952 Nettie was united in marriage to Orville Manwarren in Sioux City. To this union six children were born.
Nettie was a wife and homemaker her entire life. She loved her flowers and always had a large vegetable garden. She raised chickens and geese for her family and also sold them. Nettie looked forward to the Clay County Fair each year and worked in concessions for many years. Nettie was a hard worker and a great mom who went over and above for her family.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.
Nettie passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Alice Gray; her husband, Orville; her brother, David Gray; daughter-in-law, Shelia Manwarren; grandchildren, Travis and Kari Lenz, Steven and James Manwarren, and John Halstead; and a great grandson, Matthew Beeken.
She is survived by her children, Sherri (Tom) Higgins of Emmetsburg, Jim (Sue) Manwarren of Titonka, Ernie (Diane) Manwarren of Emmetsburg, Dennis (Sharon) Manwarren of Emmetsburg, Becky (Mike) Lenz of Curlew, and Pat Manwarren of Emmetsburg; 15 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a sister, Liz (George) Burch of Emmetsburg; as well as many other relatives and friends.
