Funeral service for Nancy J. Manwarren of Emmetsburg was held Friday, Sept. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Lana Williams officiated.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Nancy Jean Manwarren, daughter of Donald and Betty (King) Kafer, was born Sept. 2, 1957 in Estherville. She received her education in the Emmetsburg school system.
On Oct. 22, 1989 Nancy was united in marriage to Thomas E. Manwarren at the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with two sons, David and Tommy.
Nancy worked at the Redwood Café for 16 years and then began her employment at Dairy Queen where she worked for 30 years.
Nancy enjoyed playing Bingo with her Bingo buddies, Eva Lowman, Alice Manwarren and Emily Neet. She also liked doing puzzle books, diamond art and collecting chickens.
Nancy’s heart was full when her niece Jaylynn Manwarren moved in with her and Tom six years ago. She became “their girl”. When their great granddaughter, Kehlani was born she became the apple of their eye. Nancy loved every minute she could spend with her family. They all meant the world to her.
Nancy passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Betty Kafer; an infant son, Brian Snavely; brother, Bill Kafer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Ella Manwarren; brother-in-law, Ron Lawson; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Verna King; and granddaughter, Amber Dawn Kafer; brothers-in-law, Paul Manwarren and Tom Reilly.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Emmetsburg; her sons, David (Stacy) Kafer of Emmetsburg, and Tommy (Ashley) Manwarren of Ayrshire; a grandson, Dusty Kafer; great granddaughter, Kehlani Kafer; siblings, Karen (Dan) Harr of Emmetsburg, Terry (Mavis) King of Estherville, Cindy Reilly of Emmetsburg, Randy (Mary) Kafer of Spirit Lake, Mike (Deena) Kafer of Falls City, NE, Donna (Ed) Lawson of Boone, Diana Lawson of Boone, Barb (Dan) Potkonak of Jefferson, and Tony (Tina) Kafer of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
