Funeral service for Joyce Tow of Emmetsburg will be held Saturday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Visitation is prior to the service Saturday, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.

Joyce Elaine Tow, daughter of John and Emma (Naig) Tow, was born March 5, 1938 in Whittemore. She began her education in country school attending Independence #8. After her family moved to Minnesota, Joyce continued her education at Lyle Public School and later graduated. Following graduation Joyce attended Bible College and then went on to complete her nurses training at the University of Minnesota.

Joyce served in the United States Army as a nurse and obtained the rank of Lieutenant. She was honorably discharged after three years of service.

Joyce returned to Minnesota and was a nurse in Adams and Austin for several years. She was a member of the Christian Community Day Star.

A few years ago Joyce moved to Emmetsburg where she has made her home. She passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Emmetsburg Care Center, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Tow; and an infant sister, Karen.

She is survived by her brother, Dennis (Lee) Tow of Dewitt, VA; nieces and nephews, Jane (Pat) Connors of Ft. Myers, FL and their children Bailey and Dustin; Jeremy Tow of Hopewell, VA; Aaron (Wendy) Tow of Saline, MI and their children, Emily and Elena; and Dana Tow of Merrill, WI; as well as many other relatives and friends.
