A Mass of Christian Burial for James H. Currans of Lakewood, CO, will be held Friday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. Concelebrants are the Rev. Bill Schreiber and the Rev. Clem Currans.

Inurnment will be at St. Jacob's Catholic Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

James Henry Currans passed from this life in the early hours of Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020. He was born on Feb. 26, 1937 in Graettinger, to James and Salome (Antoine) Currans.

James Currans is survived by his wife Phyllis (Veline); daughter Beth (V. Jane Rosser); son Tony (Lauren); grandsons Elijah and Silas; and siblings Paul (Sheila) Currans, Rose (Richard) Herke, Emmett (Sandy) Currans, Mary Brown, Nancy (Pete) Hamilton, Fr. Clem Currans, Phil (Linda) Currans, Tricia (Bob) Currans-Sheehan, and Marty (Barb) Currans, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim loved the outdoors, spending his free time downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, boating, water skiing, hiking, biking, camping, hunting, fishing, and playing tennis and golf. He loved traveling, within and beyond the United States.

An electrical engineer, he produced gas detectors for small airplanes, parking garages and homes.

He was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease in 2007 and spent his final years working with the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA). In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to t Rocky Mountain Chapter of HDSA.
