Wolverines, Titans Close Out 2020 Football Season

The 2020 season came to an end for West Bend-Mallard and Graettinger-Terrril/Ruthven-Ayrshire football on Friday night, as both teams would fall in the opening round of eight-player playoffs.
West Bend-Mallard would face a setback at Newell-Fonda High School, falling 54-6 to a tough 7-1 Mustang squad. After trailing Newell-Fonda throughout the contest, the Wolverines would score with 2:41 left to play on a pitch from freshman quarterback Landon Montag to junior Joe Mader for a 10-yard touchdown run.
West Bend-Mallard would rush for 96 yards on the night, with senior Creytan Grimm leading the charge with 44 yards on 13 carries. Sophomore quarterback Max Fehr would rush for 23 yards on the night, passing for 35 yards on seven completions.
Defensively, Grimm would pick up eight tackles on the night, including five solo hits, while senior Jared Schmidt would tally five tackles.
The Wolverines finish out the 2020 season at 1-7 overall.
The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire would face an undefeated Remsen-St. Mary’s on the road Friday night, falling 56-14 in a hard-fought battle with the Hawks. Details of the contest were unavailable as of press time.
Titan football closes out 2020 at 1-6 overall.
