Homecoming Heartbreak for West Bend-Mallard

WEST BEND — Despite an aggressive start and early 8-0 lead, West Bend-Mallard would struggle to contain a tough Harris-Lake Park offense to eventually face a 59-22 Homecoming setback on Friday. The loss brings the Wolverines to 1-4 overall on the season.
West Bend-Mallard would strike first after forcing a fumble inside the Harris-Lake Park 10-yard line. Sophomore quarterback Max Fehr would hand the ball to senior Creyton Grimm for the 8-yard touchdown run. Going for a two-point conversion, senior Jared Schmidt would carry the ball into the end zone to give the Wolverines the 8-0 lead.
Harris-Lake Park would provide a quick answer, picking up a touchdown on the next drive. The Wolves would score 31 unanswered points by halftime to lead the Wolverines 31-8 at the break.
The Harris-Lake Park offense would explode in the third quarter, putting up 28 additional points to bring the score to 59-8.
West Bend-Mallard would find the end zone with 4:41 left to go in the third when senior Levi Mogler ran back a kick return for 77 yards and the touchdown. A missed two-point conversion would give the Wolverines 14 points heading into the fourth quarter.
