The Lady E-Hawks continued their offensive success on the road last week, claiming high-scoring wins over Manson Northwest Webster (MNW), 11-8, and West Hancock, 20-3.

Facing the MNW Cougars last Tuesday, Emmetsburg would get off to an early 1-0 start in the first inning with a Molly Schany line drive double to right field. MNW would tie the score in the second inning, then take the 3-1 lead in the third, but the Lady E-Hawks would explode in the fourth, racking up nine points during the inning. The scoring streak would start with a Brie Madden line drive double to send Macy McAllister across the plate for the score and continue with a Kourtney Kogel single and a Lindsay Carter fly ball double. Abbie Schany would hit a sacrifice fly to center to bring Carter in for the score, and Madden would again crush a hard grounder to left field for a double. Defensive errors would allow two more Emmetsburg runs to give the Lady E-Hawks a 10-3 lead.

MNW would attempt to answer in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs to bring the score within two points, 10-8, but Emmetsburg would hold strong, topped off by a Molly Schany home run in the sixth inning to walk away with the 11-8 victory.

The Lady E-Hawks collected 12 hits on the night, with Raegen Swanson, Molly Schany, Madden, and Carter each hitting two, while Cheyanne Fries, Abbie Schany, Kogel, and McAllister picked up one.

Carter would earn the Emmetsburg victory in the pitcher’s circle, striking out seven batters during the contest.
