E-Hawks Hit The Track At Sheryl Maahs Relays
SPIRIT?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk boys got on the track last Thursday after two weeks of inhospitable weather conditions, Mother Nature provided a chance for area track and field athletes to run for the Sheryl Maahs Relays at Spirit Lake. The E-Hawks would come away with 42 points in the meet to finish seventh in the field of 14 boys’ teams.
Coach Tyler Beving’s squad would get an individual championship from Zach Foxhoven in the high jump, as he cleared 6’1″ to win the competition. Senior Blake VerMulm would finish second in the 100 meter dash with a time of :11.18, and then took fourth place in the 200 meter dash with a :23.03 clocking. Teammate Colby Weir finished 15 in the 100 meter dash in :12.53, and Parker Schulte finished 22nd in the 200 meter dash with a :27.86 clocking.
In the long jump, Niklas Kulms took second place for Emmetsburg with a jump of 20’1.5″ and teammate Ethan Berven finished 14th with a long jump of 17″5.25″.
In the 800 meter dash, Jon Lace would finish in 13th place with a time of 1:01.01 and Parker Schulte finished 19th in 1:04.55.
Cruz Bowman would earn an eighth place finish in the 1600 meter run with his 5:20.16 clocking, and went on to place fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:09.77.
Niklas Kulms would place third in the 110 hurdles with a :16.16 clocking, and finished fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:00.25, while Cole Shirk finished 13th in the 400 hurdles with his 1:08.54 time.
Emmetsburg’s 4×100 relay squad comprised of Ethan Berven, Nick Schany, Spencer Griffin and Blake VerMulm would finish in eighth place with a time of :47.90, while the 4×400 relay quartet of Cole Keller, Parker Schulte, Spencer Griffin and Zach Foxhoven, finished 12th in 4:04.95.
The E-Hawks’ Distance Medley Relay, with Cole Shire, Cole Keller, Andrew Walker and Sean Brennan, finished 12th with a time of 4:29.08.
In the shot put, Nick Schany would earn seventh place overall with a heave of 42’5.5″ while teammate Jimmie Steffens finished 12th with a heave of 37′.25″. In the discus, Jacob Myers would earn eighth place with a throw of 111’9″ and Flavio Panci finished in 26th place with a throw of 57’9″.
The E-Hawks are scheduled to compete today (Tuesday) when the return to Spirit Lake for action starting at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, April 20, the E-Hawks are scheduled to compete in the Pocahontas Relays at 4:30 p.m. All meets are weather permitting.
