Wolverine Teams Fall To Newell-Fonda
WEST?BEND – The Wolverine girls and boys dropped a double-header to Newell-Fonda Friday night.
In the girls’ contest, West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate fell b an 81-42 tally to drop to 0-10 on the season.
The Lady Wolverines fell into a deep hole early as Newell-Fonda jumped out to a 30-8 lead after one quarter and the continuous clock would come into play in the second quarter as the Mustangs led 57-18 at the break. After three quarter, Newell-Fonda led 72-31 and took the 81-42 final victory.
For the Lady Wolverines, Morgan Schmidt led the effort with 12 points, while Trissa Schmidt added 11 markers. Madison Wickman scored seven points, with Karissa Montag added four points. Autumn Mogler, Briley Banwart and Monika Fehr all scored two points each, while Rachel Fehr and Kayla Hoskins both added free throws for one point each.
The boys contest saw WBM/GCB’s Wolverines fall by a 69-50 final score and fall to a mark of 2-7. The Wolverines would lead 12-9 after the opening quarter, and held a slim at 27-25 lead at the intermission. But in the third quarter, Newell-Fonda outscored WBM/GCB 17-9 for a 42-36 lead to start the fourth quarter and went on to earn the 69-50 win.
The Wolverines were led by Cole Hoskins with 16 points and Thomas Fehr with 12 points, while Danie Reisenberg chipped in eight points. Noah Fehr added six points, with Thad Fogarty and Dexter Knobloch both chipping in four points each.
