Titans Earn Split With Pocahontas Area
POCAHONTAS – The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire earned a split with Pocahontas Area Friday night.
The Titan girls picked up a 54-27 win over the Indians to improve to 10-5 on the year, while the Titan boys fell by a 71-58 score to drop to 7-5 on the season.
GT/RA’s girls got off to a slow start Friday as they would trail 10-2 after one quarter, but turned the tables on the Indians to post a 15-11 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Titans posted a 33-22 advantage to start the final frame, and GT/RA would cruise the rest of the way to earn the 54-27 victory.
Toni would pace Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire’s offense with 17 points in the contest, while Madison Hough added 12 points and Madison Norris scored 11 markers. Anna Sorensen tallied seven points, while Emma Heinrichs added four points and Taylor Park scored three points.
Graettinger-Terril/ Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Titan boys also started slowly, trailing 19-3 after one quarter and 21-27 at the intermission. In the third quarter, GT/RA made a run at the Indians but trailed 39-46 going into the final quarter of action.
The Titans would keep battling, cutting the margin down to three points in the final frame, but Pocahontas Area would pull away late for the 71-58 final tally.
For the Titans, Jacob Conlon sparked the offense with 19 points, while Tyson Kruse came away with 15 points, and Tom Geelan added 13 points. Chris Conlon would chip in six points to the effort, while Brady Rosacker tallied three pints and Kadin Norris added a bucket for two points.
