Wolverines Drop Pair Of Contests To Sioux Central
SIOUX?RAPIDS – The Wolverine basketball teams of West Bend-Mallard/ Gilmore City-Bradgate fell in a pair of contests last Friday with Sioux Central.
The Lady Wolverines would fall by a 29-53 decision while the Wolverine boys came up short in a 44-63 decision.
The girls game started slowly for both squads, as the Lady Wolverines led 7-4 after the opening quarter and held a 16-14 lead at the intermission. But in the second half, Sioux Central outscored WBM/GCB 27-6 to take a 41-22 lead and down the stretch, held on for the 53-29 final tally.
For the Lady Wolverines, Autumn Mogler scored eight points and Karissa Montag added seven tallies. Morgan Schmidt, Rachel Fehr and Briley Banwart all scored three points, while Madison Wickman and Trissa Schmidt both scored two points and Kayla Hoskins added one point.
The Wolverines would start slowly, trailing 20-4 after one quarter of play and trailed 31-16 at the break. In the third quarter, the Wolverines outscored the Rebels 19-14 to trail 35-45, but down the stretch, Sioux Central would double up the Wolverines to take th3 63-44 victory.
The Wolverines were led by Danie Riesenberg’s 15 points, while Cole Hoskins and Thad Fogarty both added seven points each. Dexter Knobloch scored six points, while Noah Fehr added four points, Thomas Fehr tallied three points and Nick Ford scored two points.
