E-Hawk Junior Varsity Playing Well In Contests
Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk Junior Varsity boys have a 4-4 record going into the holiday break after finishing 3-1 in their last four contests in December.
On Dec. 12 at Newell, the E-Hawks earned a 33-20 win over the Mustangs. Emmetsburg would take a 15-11 lead at the intermission, and would go on to earn the win off a double-double from Zach Foxhoven, who tallied 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the contest. Alex Gramowski and Ben Dunlap would both score four points, while Caleb Moen added two points and Jace Carlson, Dylan Rehm and Gerard Ruiz all added free throws for one point each.
Traveling to Lake City on Dec. 15, the E-Hawks earned a 38-34 win over South Central Calhoun after a narrow 13-12 lead at the half.
Gerard Ruiz held the hot hand with 18 points on the night and six boards, while Zach Foxhoven added 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Tim Geelan would contribute five points and Connor Joyce saw his first action of the season with three points.
The young E-Hawks would suffer a setback on Tuesday, Dec. 19, when they hosted Estherville Lincoln Central and came up on the wrong end of a 43-29 final tally, after trailing 28-13 at the intermission.
Tim Geelan would lead the offense with 12 points, while Ben Dunlap added seven points to the effort. Jace Carlson chipped in four points, while Zach Foxhoven added four points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Dylan Rehm chipped in two points.
Emmetsburg would bounce back on Thursday, Dec. 21, as they edged Spencer in a 39-37 decision to improve to 4-4 on the season.
Emmetsburg fought their way back from a 20-12 deficit at the half to go ahead with just seconds left on the clock and held out to win the contest.
Connor Joyce would come away with 13 points, six rebounds and dished out three assists, while Ben Dunlap also tossed in 13 points. Zach Foxhoven would add 10 points to the tally and Alex Gramowski chipped in three points to round out the win.
