GT/RA Titans Battling Hard In Recent Contests
Graettinger-Terril/Ruth-ven-Ayrshire’s basketball teams had a busy week last week, with the Titan girls playing three nights and the Titan boys adding a pair of games.
In action Tuesday, Dec. 5, the Titan girls defeated St. Mary’s of Storm Lake by a 64-33 score.
GT/RA would take a 16-5 lead after one quarter of play and led 38-14 at halftime before earning the 64-33 final victory.
Madison Hough tallied 20 points, while Toni Alesch added 11 markers. Taylor Park would add nine points along with Emma Heinrichs. Anna Sorenson scored five points and Lauren Josephson added four points, with Madison Norris and Chloe Bakken both adding three points.
On Thursday, the Titans girls claimed a 59-42 win over Manson Northwest Webster.
Taking a 17-10 lead after the opening frame, the Titans led 28-19 at half time and maintained control of the game fort he 59-42 win.
Toni Alesch had the hot hand with 26 points on the night, followed by Madison Norris with 13 points and Madison Hough with 10 points. Anna Sorenson chipped in five points, with Emma Heinrichs adding three points and Chloe Bakken tallying two points.
But on Friday night, GT/RA’s girls ran into South Central Calhoun and despite a valiant fight, would come up short in a 50-42 loss to the Titans.
GT/RA would start the game with a 7-2 lead in a low-scoring first quarter of play and matched SCC 19-19 in the second quarter to hold a 26-21 lead at the intermission.
But in the third quarter, SCC outscored GT/RA 11-8 and then held the Titans to eight points down the stretch to claim the 50-42 win.
Toni Alesch would score 15 points and Madison Hough added 10 points, while Madison Norris had nine points. Emma Heinrichs and Anna Sorenson would both score four points in the effort, which dropped GT/RA to 0-2 in Twin Lakes play and 5-2 overall.
The Titan boys would earn a 64-39 win on Tuesday night against St. Mary’s of Storm Lake, taking a 24-13 lead after one quarter of play and a 43-18 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, GT/RA extended its lead to 52-27 and then cruised to the 64-39 final margin of victory.
Leading the offense was Tom Geelan with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Jacob Conlon added 16 points and Tyson Kruse chipped in 12 points. Chris Conlon added seven markers and Brady Rosacker came away with five points, while Kadin Norris and Koy Bakken both made free throws for one point each.
Friday GT/RA dealt South Central Calhoun a 63-45 defeat to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.
The Titans took a 33-23 lead a the break and never looked back for the 63-45 win.
Brady Rosacker had 19 points and Tyson Kruse scored 12, with Tom Geelan adding 10 points and Jacob Conlon scoring nine points and Chris Conlon tallied eight points, while Kadin Norris rounded out the scoring with five points.
