GT/RA Titan Girls Win Opening Games
GRAETTINGER – the Titan girls of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire claimed two wins in their first two outings of the season last week. In action on Friday, Nov. 17, the Titans defeated Clay Central-Everly by a 59-24 score, and on Tuesday, Nov. 21, GT/RA defeated Harris-Lake Park 70-43.
In the season opener at Everly, GT/RA started slowly, taking a 10-4 lead after one quarter and slowly warmed up in the second quarter to post a 25-10 lead at the intermission.
The third quarter saw the Titans tally 18 points while holding the Mavericks to eight points for a 43-18 lead going into the final quarter, GT/RA would put the game away with 16 points down the stretch to take the 59-24 final margin of victory.
For the Titans, Emma Heinrichs and Toni Alesch led the offense with 16 points each, while Madison Norris followed with 14 points. Madison Hough tallied eight points, while Taylor Park scored three points while Anna Sorenson and Chloe Bakken both scored a free throw for one point each.
Traveling to Terril on Tuesday night, Nov. 21, the Titans claimed a big 70-43 win over the Wolves of Harris-Lake Park.
The first quarter was fairly even as the Titans would edge out to a five-point, 17-12 lead at the end of the opening stanza. In the second quarter, GT/RA put a big defensive stop on the Wolves, holding H-LP?to three points on their way to a 31-15 lead at the half. In the third quarter, the Titans outscored Harris-Lake Park 22-15 for a 53-30 advantage and then cruised the rest of the contest to outscore the Wolves 17-13 and earn the 70-43 win.
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire would be led offensively by Taylor Park with 19 points, while Madison Hough came up with 14 points and Toni Alesch added 13 points.
Madison Norris and Emma Heinrichs both scored nine points each, while Chloe Bakken added four points and Anna Sorenson tallied two points to the winning effort for the Titans.
