ALGONA – The basketball season opened on a positive note Tuesday for Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire. The Titans claimed a 29-24 win over Mason City Newman Tuesday night at the Bishop Garrigan Jamboree.

The Titans took a 17-12 lead after one quarter of play Tuesday night, and were able to hold their lead despite Mason City Newman cutting the lead to six points at one time before taking the 29-24 win.

For Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, Toni Alesch led all scoring with 13 points, while Madison Norris would chip in nine points and Taylor Park added seven points.

The regular season gets underway this Friday evening with a varsity girls game at Everly against Clay Central-Everly with a tipoff of 7:15 p.m. The next action for GT/RA is set for Tuesday, Nov. 21, when the Titans will host Harris-Lake Park in a varsity girls game at Terril. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
