Lady E-Hawks To Sate, E-Hawks Qualify Lone Runner
ORANGE?CITY – Emmetsburg will send eight athletes to this Saturday’s State Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge. At the conclusion of Thursday’s Class 2A Regional and District qualifying meet at Orange City, the Emmetsburg girls captured third place in the team standings. The finish would qualify the team to complete at the state meet, including three runners who finished in the top-15 as individual qualifiers as well.
For the Emmetsburg boys team, one runner would finish in the top 15 to earn an individual qualification for the state meet, while the team would finish in seventh place as a team.
Running on the Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City, the Lady E-Hawks would be led by Raven Brown’s fourth place effort. Brown would turn in a time of 20:38.8 to head up the Emmetsburg effort, while teammate Gabrielle Janssen would finish with a 20:54.7 clocking, giving her sixth place. Hailey Foxhoven would cross the finish line with a time of 21:28.1, which was good for a 14th place finish.
Isabella Householder would come across the finish line in 45th place in a time of 23:24.3 and Raylene Poeppe finished in 61st place with a time of 24:22.3 to give Emmetsburg a total of 130 points to finish third behind Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson with 31 points and Unity Christian with 111 points. Underwood would finish fourth with 164 points and George-Little Rock/Central Lyon finished fifth with 177 points in the team standings.
Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks would get a seventh place finish from Cruz Bowman on Thursday, as he earned a trip to the State Championships with his time of 17:21.8.
Dawson Moen would finish in 40th place with a time of 19:13.4, while Cade Jacobson finished with a time of 20:21.3, which was good for the 55th finishing position.
Adam Berkland would cross the finish line in a time of 20:38.4 for 57th place, while Adam Deitering finished 62nd in 20:51.3. Zachary Mason would finish in 69th place in a time of 21:16.6 and Kelly Griffin rounded out the effort for the E-Hawks with a time of 22:13.8 for 76th place.
