Wolverines Doubled Up By Newell-Fonda
WEST?BEND – The final home game of the regular season didn’t go well for West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate as they fell 20-42 to Newell-Fonda Friday night. The loss drops the Wolverines to a 1-4 mark in District play and 3-4 overall on the season going into the final regular season matchup this Friday night.
Newell-Fonda came out early and set the tone of the contest as the Wolverines struggled to get their offense going against the Mustangs’ defense.
West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate would be led by Thad Fogarty, who carried the football 10 times for 69 yards. Cole Hoskins added seven carries for 38 yards, while Dexter Knobloch had seven carries for 26 yards and Trinton Schmidt had one rushing attempt for a 25 yard gain.
Cole Hoskins would complete seven of 20 passing attempts in the contest for a total of 41 yards and two touchdowns, while having two passes intercepted.
Dexter Knobloch had two catches for 10 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown catch, while Hunter Jergens made a seven-yard catch for a touchdown. Thad Fogarty made two catches for nine yards, while Trinton Schmidt had a 12-yard reception and Danie Fogarty made a catch for three yards.
Defensively, Hunter Jergens would come away with 12 and a half tackles, while Brenden Fehr added nine and a half stops to the effort. Thad Fogarty made eight and a half tackles and Danie Riesenberg came away with six and a half tackles and Mason Studer added six tackles.
The Wolverines will close out the regular season this Friday night with their old rivalry game against Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in Graettinger for the Titans’ Parents’ Night game. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
