GT/RA Hosts Invitational Volleyball Tourney

RUTHVEN – The Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate joined West Hancock and Harris-Lake Park in play in the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Invitational volleyball tournament on Saturday. At the end of the day, The Lady Wolverines finished second behind H-LP with a 2-2 mark, while GT/RA would finish with a 1-2 record on the day.

WBM/GCB Results

For the Lady Wolverines, the day opened with a 2-1 win over GT/RA by game scores of 12-21, 21-8 and 15-9.

Leading the effort in the match was Trissa Schmidt with 15 attacks and five kills along with nine digs, while Autumn Mogler added 13 of 13 serves with three aces. Isabell Gehrt handed out 11 assists and Monika Fehr blocked five shots.

The Lady Wolverines then defeated West Hancock by game scores of 21-13, 19-21 and 15-8. Once again, Trissa Schmidt led the offense with 16 attacks and five kills, while Karissa Montag added 13 attacks and four kills. Isabell Gehrt connected on 18 of 19 serves with five aces and handed out 14 assists to her teammates in the win.

Rounding out pool play, WBM/GCB would fall to Harris-Lake Park by scores of 16-21 and 16-21. Karissa Montag made nine attacks with four kills and added seven of seven serves with one ace, while Monika Fehr blocked three shots and Isabell Gehrt handed out nine assists.

In the championship game, it was a re-match for the Lady Wolverines as they played Harris-Lake Park once again, and fell by scores of 16-21 and 15-21.

Karissa Montag would make 10 attacks with two kills, while Autumn Mogler added seven of eight serves, with April Schmidt digging out five shots.


The Titans would get off to a rocky start in their own tourney on Saturday, as they fell to West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate by a 2-1 tally Game scores were 21-11, 8-21 and 9-15.

For the Titans, Madison Hough would make 13 attacks with six kills, while Kylea Fehr added 12 attacks with four kills and Anna Sorenson added 12 attacks with one kill. Madison Norris dug out 14 shots and handed out 18 assists, while Toni Alesch connected on 13 of 13 serves with one ace and Chloe Bakken made 12 of 12 serves with four aces.

Against Harris-Lake Park, GT/RA would fall 1-2, by game scores of 21-19, 22-24 and 14-16 in a hard-fought battle. Leading the effort was Toni Alesch, as she made 22 attacks and had four kills, with four blocks, while Anna Sorenson made 17 attacks with three kills and Emma Heinrichs added 15 attacks and 13 digs. Taylor Park would dig out 18 shots in the match, and was successful on 17 of 17 serves with three aces. Madison Norris dished out 22 assists and made 13 digs, along with connecting on 10 of 12 serves with three aces.

GT/RA would square off against West Hancock and won 2-0 by scores of 21-19 and 12-14. Toni Alesch would make 15 attacks with five kills in the win, while Kylea Fehr added nine attacks with two kills. Taylor Park dug out 14 shots in the match and made 10 of 11 serves with four aces for the Titans to close out their tourney appearance.
