Cross Country Teams Have Strong Outings At Estherville

ESTHERVILLE – The Emmetsburg Cross Country teams had good showings at Tuesday’s Estherville Lincoln Central Invitational.

For Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks, the Varsity squad finished third in the team standings behind Humboldt and Spencer.

Leading the effort for the Lady E-Hawk varsity was Raven Brown, who finished seventh in a time of 21:12.92. Hailey Foxhoven earned a 19th place finish with her time of 22:45.37.

Isabelle Householder earned a 21st place finish in at time of 23:00.32, while Gabrielle Janssen was 22nd with a time of 23:01.11.

Raylene Poeppe made her first varsity start and earned a 33rd place finish with a time of 24:07.74 and Taylor Steinkamp would finish 35th with a 24:12.28 clocking.


Rounding out the varsity girls’ times was Mary Nelson, who finished 55th with a 27:25.78 clocking.

The Emmetsburg JV?Lady E-Hawks also finished third, behind Humboldt and Spencer in the team standings.

Allison Fischer ran towards the front of the race the entire distance and finished third for Emmetsburg in a time of 24:41.86, while Jamie Bird finished 11th in 25:43.52. Esther Stroem would turn in a time of 27:14.79 to place 21st for the JV?Lady E-Hawks, and Emily Fuller finished 29th in a 27:40.58 clocking.

Hannah Merwald earned 32nd place in 27:48.25 and Maggie Nelson was 45th in 31:37.76 to round out the JV finishes.

The Emmetsburg Middle School Harriers competed for the first time this season, running their two-mile race. For the Middle Schoolers, Taytum Sargent finished 36th in a time of 17:59.48, while Mattie Dooley was 43rd in 18:30.28 and Katie Nelson finished 58th in 20:34.20.

Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk Varsity runners would finished seventh in the team standings, which was won by Humboldt, with Spirit Lake finishing second.

The E-Hawks’ top finisher on the day was Adam Berkland, who placed 24th in a time of 19:40.86. Dawson Carlson would finish 30th in a time of 20:02.90 and Cade Jacobson was 42nd with a 20:52.27 clocking.

Adam Deitering finished 43rd in 20:56.89 and Zach Mason would finish in 50th place with a time of 22:08.79.

Jacob Null was 59th in 22:58.22 and Jacob Frields finished 60th in 23:07.18.

For the Junior Varsity, Emmetsburg would finish in fifth place, led by the 23:13.83 time of Niklas Kulms for 24th place.

Jordan Ruff was 27th in 23:54.99, while Brennan Duhn finished 30th in a time of 24:20.01 and Jackson Lowman finished 44th in a time of 31:11.36.

The Middle School boys also competed in their first run of the year. Quinn Swift led the effort with a 17th place finish in 14:37.90, while Alex Laubenthal was 31st in a time of 16:41.00.

Ryerson Boevers finished 44th in a time of 17:59.62 and Gavin Swift was 45th in a time of 18:05.59 as the middle school boys finished fourth in the team race.
