Lady E-Hawk Netters Earn Road Win At St. Mary’s

STORM?LAKE?- Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks picked up their first win in Twin Lakes Conference volleyball play Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over St. Mary’s. The Lady E-Hawks improve to 1-1 in league play on the young season with the victory.

It took two games for Emmetsburg to get their feet under them as they fell by game scores of 13-25 and 20-25, but rallied to win the final three games by scores of 25-22, 25-22 and took the match with a 15-6 final game win.

Molly Schany would lead the offensive attack on the night as she made 35 attempts and connected on 16 kills and added a blocked shot. The sophomore would also made one dig and connected on 15 of 18 serving attempts with a pair of aces.

Parker Traub was close behind as she made 31 attack attempts and added 11 kills, while handing out 15 assists to her teammates on the night. Traub also assisted on a blocked shot, dug our four shots and was perfect at the serving line with 15 of 15 serves and a pair of aces to her credit.

Abbie Schany would attempt 20 attacks and made nine kills, but dug out 14 shots and assisted with one block, while adding an assist. The freshman would connect on 11 of her 13 serving attempts and collected two ace serves as well.

Gretchen Hofstad would make nine attacks and hammered four kills, and handed out two assists, while digging out three shots.

Senior Emma Anderson made eight attacks and tallied one kill while assisting on one block at the net.

Macy McAllister attempted seven attacks and finished with one kill, but dug out four shots and assisted with one block and added a solo block, while handing out a team-high 22 assists to her teammates. McAllister would also connect on 13 of 15 of her service attempts at the line in the match.

Lindsay Carter would dig out eight shots and completed 17 of 20 serving attempts and Morgan Jamison added one assist and two digs while connecting on 13 of 16 serving attempts and two ace serves.

Emmetsburg will travel to Cherokee Thursday evening for freshman, junior varsity and varsity action beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In a Junior Varsity quadrangular match Monday evening, Emmetsburg’s Junior Varsity girls would finish 1-2 as they fell to Southeast Valley by game scores of 18-25 and 20-25, but defeated Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon by game scores of 25-18 and 26-24. But the young Lady E-Hawks would fall to South Central Calhoun by game scores of 8-25 and 9-25 to close out the evening.
