Lady E-Hawks Blank Spencer For Conference Win
Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks got a much-needed league win Thursday night with a 10-0 blanking of Spencer. The win improved Emmetsburg to 3-7 in the league and 10-15.
The two teams traded outs and stranded baserunners in the first two innings and Spencer went down in order in the top of the third. Emmetsburg came up and promptly reeled off a single from Raven Brown before Lindsay Carter hit a fly ball for the first out. Macy McAllister hit a double and Sarah Simington drew a walk to load the bases. Kate Jackson hit a single that scored Brown and McAllister and Molly Schany’s single scored Simington.
Annie Brennan would strike out, but an error on Emma Anderson’s at-bat allowed both Jackson and Schany to scamper home before a ground out of Parker Traub left Emma Anderson waiting as the inning ended with a 5-0 lead.
S[Spencer would get runners on second and first in the top of the fourth inning, but left the two runners waiting when Emmetsburg’s defense made the stop.
The Lady E-Hawks came up to bat in the bottom of the fourth, and once again Raven Brown left off with a base hit and took second on the throw in from the outfield. Lindsay Carter then delivered a single to move Brown to third base before Macy McAllister’s single scored Brown and moved Carter to third.
Sarah Simington would hit into a ground out at first, but the play allowed Carter to score her run and McAllister to move to third base with just one out.
Kate Jackson came up to bat and pounded out a single that scored McAllister before a ground out by Molly Schany allowed Jackson to move to second base with two outs.
Annie Brennan delivered a base hit deep into left center field that scored Jackson’s run and courtesy runner Ali Laubenthal took over at second base for the Emmetsburg catcher. But the inning would end as Emma Anderson hit a short line shot to the first baseman to end the inning.
In the top of the fifth, Spencer came up and were retired in order. The Lady E-Hawks got a leadoff single from Parker Traub before Raven Brown hit a double to score Traub and end the game with the 10-0 score.
Mikayla Frerichs got the win, giving up four hits with five strikeouts in the contest.
Emmetsburg got a double and two hits from Raven Brown and a double and single from Macy McAllister, while Kate Jackson had two hits, while Molly Schany, Annie Brennan, Parker Traub and Lindsay Carter all added base hits to the winning effort.
