Titans Have Good Showing At State
DES?MOINES?- The Titan boys and girls of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire had strong performances at the recently completed State Track meet in Des Moines this past weekend.
For the Titan girls, Toni Alesch would compete in the 200 meter dash and ran a :26.97 in prelims to qualify for the Saturday finals and earned a sixth place effort in Class 1A with a time of :27.10.
Madison Norris would place ninth in her section of the Class 1A 800 meter run on Saturday with a time of 2:29.68.
The Distance Medley relay group of Toni Alesch, Taylor Park, Emma Heinrichs and Madison Norris, would earn a 12th place finish overall with its time of 4:30.67 in action on Friday morning.
Finally, the girls, 4,800 relay of Taylor Park, Anna Sorenson, Emily Chicoine and Madison Norris earned a 16th place finish with a time of 10:31.02.
For the Titan boys, three new GT/RA?School Records were set at the State Meet.
In the 800 meter run, Jake Conlon finished ninth overall with a time of 2:00.86 for the school record.
The Titans’ 4×100 relay, comprised of Nate Larson, Simon Cahill, Jake Conlon and Kolton Roth, also set a new school record with their finishing time of :45.60, which was good for 17th place in state.
GT/RA’s 4×800 relay, with Nate Larson, Chris Conlon, Eric Sundall and Jacob Conlon would finish 12th in the state with their school record effort of 8:26.11.
Finally, the Titans’ Sprint Medley relay foursome, comprised of Nate Larson, Kolton Roth, Eric Sundall and Jacob Conlon, would finish with a time of 1:38.35 to finish third in their heat on Saturday morning.
“We ended an amazing track season taking four events to the state meet,”?noted GT/RA?Coach David Peterson. “We had hopes of bringing home some medals but despite running our best times of the season, we fell a little short.”
