Wolverine Grapplers Westle at GT/RA Invite
GRAETTINGER?- The West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate Wolverines wrestled last Saturday at the GT/RA?Titans Invitational. The Wolverines would earn an individual championship in the outing.
At 182 pounds, Juan Falcon earned a :39 Win by Fall over Luke Bossard of Okoboji in the quarterfinals and a 9-1 Major Decision win over Blake Miller of GT/RA in the semifinals before claiming the title with a 7-5 decision victory over Isaac Engeman of North Union.
Wrestling at 220 pounds, Corbin Studer would defeat teammate Gio Falcon with a :29 Win by Fall and then earned a 4:28 Win by Fall over Grady Umbarger of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in the semifinals. In the championship match, Studer would be pinned in 1:49 by Riley Anderson of Okoboji to finish second. At 113 pounds, Kiwi Carlson would be pinned in :41 in his first round match and was pinned in :21 of the consolation first round to be eliminated from the tourney.
Michael Fehr, wrestling at 145 pounds, received a first-round bye, and then was pinned in 3:19 before receiving a second bye. In the third place match, Fehr would te pinned in 1:21 by AJ??Nemesio of Akron-Westfield to finish fourth.
Mason Studer, wrestling at160 pounds, was pinned in 8:00 of a sudden victory overtime by Nate Larson of GT/Ra, and then received a bye. In the consolation semifinals, Studer was pinned in :27 and moving into the fifth place match, Studer scored a 2:31 Win by Fall over Adam Brandt of North Union to finish fifth.
Gio Falcon, wrestling at 220, was pinned by teammate Corbin Studer in :28 and then received a bye. In the consolation semi’s, Falcon was pinned in :55 and in the fifth place match, Falcon was pinned in 2:12 by Grady Umbarger of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.
Rounding out the action at 285, Erick Navas was pinned in :21 in the quarterfinals, but he received a bye in the consolation opener. In the consolation semis, Navas was pinned in :45 by Garrett Funk of Okoboji and in the fifth place match, Navas would be the victim of a :42 fall at the hands of Logan Smith of Algona to close out the Wolverines’ efforts at the tourney.
