E-Hawk Boys JV Split Pair Of Contests

The Emmetsburg Boys Junior Varsity basketball team split a pair of contests in the past week. On Thursday, the young E-Hawks fell to Sioux Central by a 39-43 tally, but on Friday night, Emmetsburg defeated Estherville Lincoln Cental by a 43-39 score.

In action on Thursday at Sioux Rapids, the E-Hawks jumped out to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored 22-14 in the second quarter. However, the E-Hawks led 29-24 at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Sioux Central took the lead, outscoring Emmetsburg 13-7 for a 37-36 lead, but in the final quarter, Emmetsburg went cold, scoring three points in the final quarter for the 49-39 final score.

For the E-Hawks, Hunter McAllister led the scoring with 13 points, while Zach Mason added nine points. Conner Joyce scored eight points, with Corbin Saathoff chipped in four points. Adam Deitering tallied three points and Brennan Duhn chipped in two points.

The following evening Emmetsburg earned a 43-39 win over Estherville Lincoln Central. ELC?took an 8-6 lead after the first quarter, but Emmetsburg came back to take a one point lead, 18-17 at the intermission. In the third quarter, the E-Hawks almost doubled up the Midgets on their way to a 31-24 advantage and then held off a furious rally in the final quarter to escape with the 43-39 win.

Conner Joyce led the offense with18 points on the night, with Hunter McAllister adding 10 points. Corbin Saathoff and Zach Mason both scored six points each, while Clayton Swanson added three points.
