Lady E-Hawks Earn Road Win At Storm Lake

STORM?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks earned a 48-35 win over Storm Lake in Lakes Conference basket ball action Friday night. The win gives the Lady E-Hawks a 1-1 mark in the league and 1-2 overall on the young season.

Emmetsburg would take an early lead on Friday, but a last-second three-quarter court shot by Storm Lake cut the Lady E-Hawks’ lead to 10-9 as the quarter ended. The Lady E-Hawks continued to battle in the second quarter and worked their way out to a 22-15 advantage at the intermission.

In the second half of the contest, Emmetsburg was able to control the contest, and outscored Storm Lake 16-11 in the third quarter for a 38-26 advantage to start the final stanza. Down the stretch, Emmetsburg would hold on to record the 48-35 margin of victory.

Leading the offense for the Lady E-Hawks was Bailey Naig with 13 points, while Parker Traub came away with 11 markers. Jordan Hoyman chipped in eight points, with Kayla Joyce and Molly Schany both tallying six points each. Raven Brown and Molly McCain would come off the bench and score a bucket for two points each to round out the effort.

Emmetsburg faces a busy week as they return home to host Western Christian of Hull tonight (Tuesday) and then play host to Spirit Lake on Friday night. Then on Saturday, the Lady E-Hawks will host the Raiders of South Central Calhoun in a non-district matchup.
