RUTHVEN – A strong first half didn’t carry through for the Titan boys of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Tuesday night in a 76-61 loss to Storm Lake St. Mary’s in Twin Lakes Conference hoops action.

The two teams played evenly in the opening stanza at Ruthven on Tuesday, with the score tied at 14-14 at the end of the quarter. The Panthers would edge out to a 32-29 advantage over the Titans at the end of the second quarter, outscoring GT/RA?18-15 in the period.

But in the third quarter, the Titans’ offense went cold, as St. Mary’s would outscore GT/RA 22-12 in the frame to take a 54-41 lead into the final quarter.

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire would continue to play aggressively down the stretch but couldn’t overcome the deficit as they were outscored 22-20 in the final quarter to fall by the 76-61 final score.

For the Titans, Jacob Conlon led the offensive efforts in the game, scoring 16 points, including a trio of three-point shots. Chris Conlon would follow with 12 points, while Tommy Geelan added 10 points to the tally.

Brady Rosacker chipped in eight points, while Eric Sundall scoring six points. Tyson Kruse added five points and Sam Skattebo rounded out the effort with four points.

Eric Sundall would pull down 12 rebounds for the titans, while Jacob Conlon dished out eight assists.

“We played a good first half but were unable to make shots in the second half,” noted Titans Head Coach Randy Hough. “I thought the boys played very aggressive, but St. Mary’s was able to take advantage of our inexperience in the second half to get the win.”
