Lady E-Hawks Play Hard Against Western Christian, ELC

After picking up a win over Spencer on Tuesday night in Lakes Conference volleyball action, Emmetsburg’s Lady E-Hawks found themselves facing perennial conference powerhouse Western Christian and Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday. Emmetsburg would fall 3-0 to the Western Christian squad, and battled hard before falling 3-1 to Estherville Lincoln Central in the nightcap.

The losses give the Lady E-Hawks a record of 1-2 in Lakes Conference matches and 6-12 overall on the season.

Against Western Christian, Emmetsburg fell by game scores of 10-25, 13-25 and 6-25. Leading the way for Emmetsburg in the match was Bailey Naig with three kills, while Sarah Pugh added six service completions and dug out five shots, while handing out four assists along with Parker Traub. Traub would also block two shots in the match.

In the nightcap, the Lady E-Hawks squared off against Estherville Lincoln Central and found themselves in close battles through four games before falling 3-1. Game scores were 22-25, 23-25, 25-21 and 18-25.

For Emmetsburg in the match, Bailey Naig hammered home 15 of 21 kills, while Allison Freeman would dig out 15 shots on the night and connected on 13 of 15 serving attempts.

Sarah Simington connected 23 of 22 serves and collected a pair of ace services, while Sarah Pugh came away with 18 of 18 serves in the match.

Parker Traub would hand out 14 assists while blocking three shots and digging out five shots. Sarah Simington dug out nine shots in the match and Molly Schany would come away with four blocks on the night.

Emmetsburg returns to action this Thursday night when they will host Cherokee in Lakes Conference volleyball action. Freshman and JV play begins at 5:30 p.m.
