Lady E-Hawks Earn Post Season Honors

Several members of the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawk softball team received post-season honors for their play during the season with inclusion on the 2016 Lakes Conference All Conference teams.

Earning spots on the Second Team All Conference squad were junior shortstop Kate Jackson and junior center fielder Sarah Simington.

Jackson would start in 33 games during the season and went to the plate 100 times, coming away with 29 hits for a .290 batting average and scored 24 runs. Jackson’s bat produced six doubles, a triple and a Home Run, while accounting for 30 RBI’s. with five sacrifices. Kate was walked 11 times during the season and struck out 17 times. She stole six bases during the season. Defensively at shortstop, Jackson made 35 put-outs and had 92 catches for a fielding percentage of .891.

Sarah Simington started the season as a catcher but switched to center field and started in all 33 games of the season. She went to the plate 103 times and produced 34 hits, a .330 batting average, and scored 27 runs while batting in 10 runs. She sacrificed three times, drew 15 walks and struck out 15 times, but stole 12 bases. On defense, Simington as she came away with 71 put-outs and made 80 catches for a fielding percentage of .989.

Earning Honorable Mention recognition for Emmetsburg were senior outfielder Jenna Chapman and junior third baseman Allison Freeman.

SARAH SIMINGTON Second Team Outfielder

Jenna Chapman would play in 32 games during the season, and had 17 hits in 88 trips to the plate, a .193 average, which produced 11 runs and three RBI’s with one sacrifice. Jenna was walked five times, struck out 24 times and stole three bases. Playing in left field, Chapman made 21 put-outs off 29 catches for a .759 fielding percentage.

Allison Freeman would play in 29 games and went to the plate 85 times, collecting 26 hits for a .306 batting average and scoring 27 runs, with four doubles and 19 RBI’s. Freeman issued four sacrifices while drawing 19 walks and striking out 11 times and stealing eight bases. Playing on the hot corner at third, Allison made 37 put-outs off 60 catches, a fielding percentage of .850.
