E-Hawk Thinclads See First Action At Spirit Lake

SPIRIT?LAKE – Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks got in their first outdoor meet of the season Tuesday night at the Spirit Lake Invitational. The E-Hawks finished fifth in the eight-team field.

Emmetsburg’s Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Dalton Connelly, Connor Joyce, Clayton Swanson and Grant Deitering took second place with a time of 1:09.03, while Nick Grandstaff took second in the high jump, clearing 5’4″.

AJ?Krieg would earn third place in the long jump with a leap of 18’9″ and Grant Deitering was third in the 200 meter dash with his time of :24.83. The 4×200 relay, comprised of Grant Deitering, Aaron Hutchison, AJ?Krieg and Brent Wesley, would also earn third place in 1:37.55.

Connor Joyce would place fourth in the high jump as he cleared 5′, while the 4×100 relay team of Ethan Berven, Grant Deitering, AJ?Krieg and Brent Wesley earned fourth place with their time of :47.24. The Distance Medley Relay of Aaron Hutchison, Brent Wesley, Ethan Berven and Nick Grandstaff would also finish fourth in a time of 4:04.82.

Nick Grandstaff would place fifth in the 3200 meter run with an 11:16.85 clocking, with Cruz Bowman placing sixth in the 3200 meters in 11:32.94. Ethan Berven earned sixth place in the long jump, coming away with a leap of 17’8.5″.

Blake VerMulm came away with a :58.76 clocking to earn a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash, while teammate Ethan Berven took seventh place with his time of :59.10. Also finishing seventh was AJ?Krieg in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.69, and Dalton Connelly earned seventh place in the 110 high hurdles with a :19.72 clocking, while the 4×400 relay squad of Aaron Hutchison, Carson Clark, Blake VerMulm and Dalton Connelly placed seventh in a time of 4:01.96.

Emmetsburg’s 4×800 relay group of Dawson Carlson, Tanner Lundgren, Adam Deitering and Chris Nichols would finish eighth with a time of 10:23.15, while Dalton Connelly placed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1:06.59 clocking. Max Dunlap earned eighth place in the shot put, throwing 38’6.25″ and Nick Schany placed ninth in the shot with a throw of 37’9.5″.

Cruz Bowman earned eighth place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:32.06 and Adam Deitering would finish ninth in the 1600 meters with a 5:44.86 clocking. Brent Wesley finished ninth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.82, while Carson Clark finished tenth in the 200 meter dash with a :27.06 effort and Dawson Carlson finished tenth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.93.

Jacob Myers would finish 12th in the discus, throwing 89’5″ and Kyle Licht was 13th with a throw of 76’8″. Connor Joyce would place 12th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:13.02 and Chris Nichols finished 13th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:43.52.

The E-Hawk track and field team will return to action this Friday, April 15, when they journey to Estherville to run in the Estherville Relays at Estherville Lincoln Central High School.
