WBM/GCB Lady Wolverines Fall In Regional Tournament Opener
ALGONA – The Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate exited the tournament trail in the opening round Thursday night at Algona. Bishop Garrigan ended the Lady Wolverines’ season in a 62-15 decision to end WBM/GCB’s season with a 0-20 mark.
The Lady Wolverines opened the post season with a slow offensive start, as Bishop Garrigan would jump out to a 17-point advantage with a 21-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, WBM/GCB would score just four points as Bishop Garrigan invoked the continuous clock rule with a 45-4 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Wolverines would only manage a free throw in the third quarter of the contest and trailed 56-9 to start the final quarter as both teams would score six points each in the final quarter for the 62-15 final score.
WBM/GCB was led by the eight points of Taylor Fogerty, while Anna Zaugg added five points and Taylor Elbert chipped in two points. Anna Zaugg and Abby Zaugg would both collect five rebounds each and two steals, while Karissa Montag and Anna Zaugg both blocked shots and Taylor Elbert also made two steals.
