Titans Outlast East Sac
WALL?LAKE – The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire survived an overtime period to claim a 65-62 win over East Sac County in Twin Lakes Conference boys basketball action Friday night. With the win, GT/RA enters the holiday break with a perfect 6-0 mark overall on the season and at 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference race.
The meeting between the Titans and East Sac lived up to the billing of two unbeaten teams on Friday night, as East Sac and the Titans would trade buckets through the first quarter before East Sac took a 15-13 lead.
In the second quarter, East Sac was able to hold on to the bucket advantage as the squads continued to trade buckets before East Sac took the 27-25 lead at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire was able to take the lead from East Sac and edged out to a 41-37 advantage to start the final quarter of regulation play. But East Sac would come back to outscore GT/RA 17-13 in the final quarter to tie the game up at 54-54 at the end of regulation play to send the contest into overtime.
But down the stretch in the final four minutes, the Titans were able to put a touch more defensive pressure on East Sac and were able to come away with the three-point, 65-62 margin of victory.
For the Titans, Andy Geelan reeled off 26 points and dished out 10 assists while pulling down eight rebounds, while Jared Sikora and Nick Josephson both scored nine points each.
Noah Stukey, Michael Girres and Jacob Conlon all scored six points for the Titans in the win, with Taylor Enderson adding three points to the coffers.
Michael Girres added seven rebounds to the effort and Taylor Enderson snagged four rebounds.
