E-Hawks Wrestle At Fort Dodge Invite
FORT?DODGE?- Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk wrestlers earned several placings at Saturday’s Don Miller Invitational tournament in Fort Dodge.
Leading the way for the eight E-Hawks that wrestled were Gage Jamison in fourth place and Spencer Griffin with a fourth place finish.
Carson Clark would earn a fifth place finish, while Jackson Knight finished sixth. Dillon VanOosbree would finish in seventh place and Christian Nichols earned eighth place on the day. E-Hawks Conner Crosgrove and Robert Nelson did not place in the tournament.
At 126 pounds, Spencer Griffin finished with a 1-2 record that included a win by fall over Chris Shima of Storm Lake before he fell victim to a Technical Fall to Bryce Murano of Dallas Center-Grimes. Griffin lost a 3-4 decision to Connor Allison in the Consolation Championship to earn his fourth place finish.
Gage Jamison finished with a 1-2 record at 160 pounds, starting with a an overtime decision win over Tristin Langmaind of Newton. Jamison then lost a Technical Fall to Alec Helmkamp of Ankeny Centennial and in the Consolation final, lost a decision to Brycen Carney of Ames to place fourth.
In action at 132 pounds, Carson Clark finished with a record of 3-1, after starting out being pinned by Austin Gutknecht of Clarinda, but rebounded to pin Cade Felts of Webster City. Clark then pinned Ben Rogers of Ames and in the fifth place match, scored a win by fall over Darrien Rouse of Ankeny Centennial to finish fifth.
Jackson Knight would finish with a 2-2 record in action at 138 pounds. Knight opened being pinned by Cole Detmering of Fort Dodge, but came back to pin Jon Walker of Sioux City East. Knight then scored a win by fall over Ames’ Daimon Cloutier, but in the fifth place match, Knight would come up short in a decision loss to Teren Davidson of Woodbury Central to finish in sixth place for the E-Hawks.
In action at 145 pounds, Dillon VanOosbree earned a record of 2-2 on the day as he finished in seventh place.
VanOosbree would lose a 7-0 decision to Reed Hillenga of Dallas Center-Grimes in the opening round, but came back to earn a decision win over Kollyn Buch of Clarinda before losing a decision to Cody Zellner of Woodbury Central. For the Seventh place match, VanOosbree would earn a win by decision over Alex Kleider of Sioux City East.
Christian Nichols would earn a 2-3 record on the day wrestling at 120 pounds. Nichols began the day with an overtime win over Drew Kearney of Dallas Center-Grimes, but was pinned by Ross Hull of Newton. Nichols then earned a win by decision over Angel Morales of Sioux City East, but was pinned by Noah Donahue of Clarinda. For the seventh place match, Nichols would come up short in a decision against Drew Kearney, his first round opponent to finish in the eighth place at 120 pounds.
Also wrestling on Saturday were Conner Crosgrove and Robert Nelson.
At 152 pounds, Conner Crosgrove opened with a decision loss to Levi Trenary of Fort Dodge and then lost to Rowan Collins before he had to injury default to Anthony Baird of Woodbury Central and did not place in the tournament.
At 220 pounds, Robert Nelson started the tournament with a win by fall over Jacob Smith of Newton, but was the victim of a decision at the hands of Chance Stough of Clarinda. Nelson would be eliminated from the tournament when he was pinned by Tanner Miller of Council Bluffs Lewis Central and would not place for the E-Hawks.
The E-Hawks will take a break over the holidays before resuming action Thursday, Jan. 7, when they will travel to Spirit Lake for a Lakes Conference double dual with Storm Lake and Spirit Lake.
