E-Hawk Wrestlers Split in Conference Dual Matches

HULL – Emmetsburg’s E-Hawk wrestlers earned a slit in Lakes Conference wrestling action Thursday night at Hull. The E-Hawks defeated Western Christian by a 48-18 tally, but were defeated by the Spencer Tigers by a 57-18 score to move to 1-2 in league matches going into the Holiday break.

In the opening dual of the evening, Emmetsburg defeated the Wolfpack of Hull Western Christian. At 106 pounds, neither team sent a wrestler to the mat for a double forfeit. At 113 pounds, Andrew Walker received a win by forfeit, as did Christian Nichols at 120 pounds and Spencer Griffin at 126 pounds.

At 132 pounds, ,Carson Clark tallied a 1:58 win by fall over Andrew Cox to give Emmetsburg a 24-0 lead, but at 138 pounds, Jackson Knight was pinned in 1:04 of his match with Derick Jansma to put Western Christian on the scoreboard.

Dillon VanOosbree would collect a 3:56 win by fall over Isaac Visser in the 145 pound match for the E-Hawks, and at 152 pounds, Connor Crosgrove earned a 3:35 win by fall over Mitchel Van’t Hull for a 36-6 team score.

Lincoln Oostenink of Western Christian would earn a 9-3 decision win over the E-Hawks’ Jacob Myers in action at 160 pounds, but at 170 pounds, Gage Jamison pinned Daniel Donovan in 1:48 of their match.

Brian Wickman would receive a win by forfeit in the 182 pound match for the E-Hawks before a double forfeit took place at 195 pounds.

In action at 220 pounds, Emmetsburg’s Robert Nelson would lose an 8-1 decision to Skylar Bonestroo before the Wolfpack’s Spencer Cox scored a :35 win by fall over Matt Hill in the 285 pound match for the 48-18 final score.

Against the Spencer Tigers, Emmetsburg would run into a stout lineup.

The E-Hawks would forfeit the 106 pound match before Andrew Walker was pinned in :21 of his 113 pound match against the Tigers’ Cade Hopkins that put Spencer up 12-0.

Christian Nichols would earn a 7-3 decision victory over Chris Gross in action at 120 pounds and in the 126 pound match, Spencer Griffin scored a 2:58 win by fall over Spencer’s Brady Seier to make the score 12-9.

In the 132 pound match, the E-Hawks’ Carson Clark was pinned in 2:34 of his match with Alex Najera and at 138 pounds, Jackson Knight was pinned in 1:28 of his match with Eri Beehler.

Dillon VanOosbree would receive a win by forfeit at 145 pounds to make the score 24-15, but at 152, Conner Crosgrove would lose an 8-2 decision to Brody Kacmarynski.

At 160 pounds, Gage Jamison would earn aa 2-1 decision over the Tigers’ Nathan McLaury to make the score 27-18.

Spencer would go on a run, as Hunter Hurst scored a :59 fall over the E-Hawks’ Jacob Myers in the 170 pound match and at 182, Brian Wickman was pinned in 3:40 by Seth Hill-Anderson. The E-Hawks would forfeit at 195 pounds to the Tigers’ Jacob Pingel before Austin Roberts recorded a :30 win by fall over the E-Hawks’ Robert Nelson in the 220 pound match.

The varsity match would wrap up with Nic Hoefling of Spencer pinning Matt Hill in :16 for the 57-18 final tally.

In exhibition matches, the E-Hawks’ Cruz Bowman was pinned at 113 and Kyle Licht was pinned in the 120 pound match. At 126, Crus Bowman was pinned before Ethan Berven of the E-Hawks scored a 3:42 win by fall at 132 pounds and Jordan Ruff would be pinned in his 132 pound match.
