Titans Earn Win At Harris-Lake Park

LAKE PARK – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire rolled to a 54-28 victory over Harris-Lake Park in eight-man district football play Friday night, Oct. 16. The win improves the Titans to 4-1 in the district race and 7-1 overall as they enter the final regular season game this Friday night.

GT/RA?would break the ice quickly with a 65 yard touchdown run by Michael Girres with 11:47 remaining in the first quarter.

A quick possession by Harris-Lake Park’s Wolves would get the ball back to the the Titans and Girres scored from a yard out with 11:21 as the Titans expanded their lead to 12-0.

H-LP’s defense came up with a safetly later in the quarter to make the score 12-2 at the end of the opening quarter.

Tyler Hoffman would catch a 17 yard pass from Girres to start the second period and then added a two-point conversion for a 20-2 lead, but the Wolves would answer with a three-yard passing touchdown with 5:00 to play in the half.

GT/RA answered with a 60-yard run by Michael Girres and a conversion run from Jordan Thompson for a 28-10 lead.

Harris-Lake Park would score off a nine-yard pass with just over 1:00 to go in the half, but on the resulting kick, Girres returned the ball 78 yards to score and give the Titans a 34-16 advantage at the intermission.

In the second half, Harris-Lake Park cut the margin to 34-22 after a five-yard score with 8:26 to play inthe third, but the Titans would respond with back-to-back touchdowns from Michael Girres as he would score off runs of 43 yards and four yards and added a two-point conversion to put GT/RA?up by a 48-22 tally as the fourth quarter began.

Alex Hoffman would get into the scoring derby with a one-yard plunge with 10:15 to play in the contest for the final Titan score of the night.

Harris-Lake Park would score a 33-yard passing touchdown with 6:28 to go in the contest to wrap up the offensive efforts for the 54-28 final score.

Michael Girres would rush 23 times for 248 yards and completed three of four pases for 45 yards. Tyler Hffman added 12 carries to gain 94 yards and caught a pair of passes for 36 yards.

Alex Hoffman gained 10 yards on three carries andcaught a pass for nine yards for the Titans.

For the Titan defense, Jacob Conlon and Jared Sikora each picked off Harris-Lake Park passes, while Alex Hoffman and Magnus Vangsbo each recovered a fumble. Michael Girres would make 12 tackles and Eric Sundall added 11. Sam Skattebo made nine stops and added a quarterback sack, while Alex Hoffman had nine tackles and three sacks. Tyler Hoffman also made nine stops and Jacob Conlon had seven. Magnus Vangsbo and Nate Larsonboth added quarterback sacks.

The Titans will finish out the regular season playing Remsen St. Mary’s this Friday night and then will look to the post season next Wednesday night.

Currently, the Titans are third in District Two behind Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and West Bend-Mallard/ Gilmore City-Bradgate, who will meet this Friday night in West Bend for the District title.
