Swimmers Split Double Dual
The Algona Area High School Girls Swim Team split a double duel Monday, losing to Carroll 78-23 and beating Perry 46-43.
“We started off digging a hole by having both Med Relay teams DQed spotting Perry 6 points,” noted Head Coach Jim Fisher. “The girls were able to chip away at the lead by taking 3rds against Perry, picking up needed points. In the 100 fly the team went 1-2 and in the 100 back Casey Harms was first. The meet came down to the 400 Free Relay and the girls beat Perry which enabled them to split the meet. It was a good meet to win but the girls were not happy with their times. I told them that some nights they may not swim their fastest but since they were able to win not doing their best it was a good night.”
Top Finishes included:
Casey Harms second in the 100 back in 1:18.11
Emily McMahon third in the 50 free in 30.92
Conner Yi third in the 100 fly in 1:17.35
400 Free Relay Team of Lausen, Birkland, Finley and Stowater was third in 4:42.09
Fourth went to Alexia Gilbert in the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.76 and the 200 Free Relay team of McMahon, Stowater, Finley and Lausen in 1:59.97. Zian Nicholas was fourth in the 500 in 6:55.79 along with Natalie Lausen in the 100 free in 1:08.44 and in the 200 IM in 2:56.56.
