Wolverines Blow Out Remsen

REMSEN – West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate administered a 69-6 lesson to Remsen Union in Eight-man football action Friday night. The win improves the Wolverines to 4-1 in the district and 4-3 overall for second place in the district race.

The Wolverines scored on their initial possession off a two-yard quarterback sneak by Jeff Riesenberg. Nolan Robert Dahlhauser kicked the extra point and it was 7-0 with 9:20 to play in the first quarter.

After a three and out for the Rockets, the Wolverines scored off a 35 yard run by Riesenberg on the first play of the possession. The PAT?kick made the score 14-0 with 8:03 to go in the first.

WBM/GCB would strike again with 3:07 to go in the quarter off a three yard run by Nolan Roger Dahlhauser. The PAT?kick gave the Wolverines a 21-0 lead that held to the end of the quarter.

To start the second frame, Travis Fehr would take a handoff and raced 49 yards for a score with 10:33 to play in the half, but a two-oint conversion failed for a 27-0 lead.

The Wolverines’ Nolan Roger Dahlhauser recovered a fumble with 7:49 to play in the half. In just a few plays, Travis Fehr found the end zone again from five yards out with 6:05 to go in the half. The two-point conversion by Riesenberg made the score 35-0 as the continuous clock would run for the rest of the contest.

With 3:00 to go in the half, Nolan Robert Dahlhauser found the end zone from five yards away. A two-point conversion by Riesenberg made the score 43-0 at the intermission.

WBM-GCB scored to start the second half off a 26-yard run by Travis Fehr. Gus Taljegard booted the extra point to make the score 50-0 with 9:42 remaining in the third frame.

The defense would stop the Rockets at the seven-yard line and after a sack, the Wolverines started at their own 14 yard line. Jeff Riesenberg kept the ball for a 56 yard touchdown run and the kick made the score 57-0 with :38 to play in the third quarter.

Remsen Union would score their only touchdown early in the final quarter, but Travis Fehr ran the kickoff 73 yards for a score for a 63-6 tally with 11:03 to play.

The Wolverines would score a final time off a 26 yard run by Thad Fogarty with 3:27 to play for the 69-6 final tally.

The Wolverines tallied 393 yards of total offense in the contest. Jeff Riesenberg completed three passes to Jack Banwart for 36 yards and Michael Fehr added a pair of completions, one to Gus Taljegard for 20 yards and one to Charlie Fehr for a nine yard reception.

Travis Fehr rushed 13 times for 140 yards. Jeff Riesenberg added 101 yards on five carries, while Nolan Robert Dahlhauser ran it four times for 35 yards. Nolan Roger Dahlhauser added 28 yards on seven rushes and Thad Fogarty had two carries for 26 yards.

Overall, the Wolverines racked up 327 yards off just 30 rushing attempts in the victorious effort.

Defensively, e side of the ball, WBM-GCB would surrender just 166 yards to the Rockets in the contest. Remsen-Union gained 136 rushing yards in 42 attempts.

Nolan Grimm would rule the defense with 18 tackles on the night, while Travis Fehr added 13 tackles. Harmon Atwood and Jack Banwart both tallied eight tackles, while Banwart added a quarterback sack to th effort.

Nolan Roger Dahlhauser and Adam Gambell both recovered fumbles in the win for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines will host f Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn this Friday evening in West Bend.
